I’m hopeful (President Obama) will weigh in more and more in the debate,” Rep. Jim Cooper said. “When (the President) asked in his brilliant joint session speech this last winter for Congress to give him no more earmarks the very next day Congress gave him 8,500 earmarks. That was wrong of Congress to do,” Cooper chided. “It was just the start of his honeymoon period. (The President) didn’t want to pick a big fight with Congress during his honeymoon. We can’t blame a man for doing that. Likewise, (President Obama) shouldn’t allow Congress to take advantage of him for the rest of his administration,” urged the Congressman as he presented health care reform options.
