Mayor Karl Dean, in his annual address to Downtown Rotary, disclosed a $2 million entirely privately funded plan to augment teacher recruitment and leadership development for local public schools. The funds will be raised for the project by the end of this month.The Teach for America program will attract new college graduates to service for two years in urban schools while the New Teachers Project will help public schools attract and train exceptional teachers.
